Was wondering what exactly do you guys mean when you refer to "blipping the throttle" during a downshift? Do you mean tap the throttle and then let off, then release clutch? If so, how far do you press down on the throttle before releasing? Seems like with the 1.8T engine, the engine is pretty finicky... if you tap and release the throttle quickly, the engine doesn't really seem to react, but if you hold the throttle down a bit too long before releasing, it races up to high rpms really quickly...

If that's the case, when you "blip" the throttle ... you are doing it to match the rpm when you are in the lower gear at that speed. So, this blip of the throttle depends on what rpm you are trying to match. You don't need to rev match or double clutch to downshift in your A4.
