I know for a fact that 245/40/17 Bridgestone S-02 PP are not as wide as 225/50/16 Dunlop SP8000 (I've had both). Most manufacturers with web sites have this data listed; good way to compare.

I was speaking of tread width in my post above, not overall width.

I could almost swear that the 225 SP8000s are wider overall than the 245 S-02 PPs that I have. Unfortunately, I don't have the SP8000s anymore. All I can go by now is the manufacturer web sites.
