I had an English teacher who always use to do that and it drove me insane. Sorry for the rant, congrats if that was 20k miles...or 20k dollars for that matter : )

The "I" is the predicate nominative of the sentence, but really my error is in the use of the word "that", but it is acceptable to use "that" instead of a more personal pronoun even when referring to oneself. Well, at least that is the way I remember it from 9th grade...I don't really know...I haven't kept up with the new texts on high school English...of course my texts were from before I was born! ;)
