background? Magic wand certainly won't work, and the lasso tool would be incredibly time consuming - how did you do it??

Really, I just sit when told and smile. Carl's the man, and I just go fetch beer on Friday afternoons when requested.

Sometimes he tries to explain to me how he uses masking and layering, but it's all beyond me...

I just sign my name on the dotted line and hope that our next payroll is covered. His magic is his magic. There's a certain technical aspect, and there's a certain artistic aspect. He's a gifted photographer and works by intuition when whipping these AudiWorld bits together. I can grunt a piece together into sloppy shape over many, many hours while he spends an hour putting together something better....

...%400 size magnification. For the shadows, simply select the area with the Lasso Tool again and fill it with the airbrush tool or clone stamp for the lighting of the original. Am I speaking your language schvetkaaks? For the shadow of the R8 on the street again, select the original and change the opacity to %75 or less. Its just time consuming and the fastest mouse gets it done the quickest.

stuff out, add shadows, resize things, blend images together, etc. I don't think the lasso tool is used very often at all on CK's computer.

But, again, I'm a cut-copy-smear hack. When I'm done with an image, I can't go back and easily fix it up some more as it's all just mucked together into a single image piece. You should see the layers, alpha-channels, etc. in the file that made this image...a lot of them. It's freaky to watch someone actually work in PS when they know what they're doing.

That way you can go back. The History pallet also helps for going back. Also with each layer you can add an effect, like drop shadows, light sources and such, but I prefer to do it without the auto rendition.
