I sure hope this new RS6 comes quickly! Only had my car one week, but would gladly trade for a RS6!

like the stupid X class, which 'from $29,900) will buy you an X class shell with pickle bucket seats and cheesecloth interior - to get one comparable to the rest in the class, you are forking over $43K...all that for a Taurus...

At 450hp and Quattro the RS6 will be worth the wait. New interior is better but still nowhere near as nice as the Audi, and still no room.

If you read C&D it seems that for a 400hp car you only get about 350. What a joke to take a platform that as a 3.0 has a ford Tauraus engine and transmission, and give it 400hp as an all Jag car. I 've driven some Jag's as of late but I bought a A6 4.2. We just ordered my wife an M3 convertible after driving an XK8. Jag's ofer you less of a driving experience for more money, Wow!! what a deal-kind of like Mercedes and their lack luster performing C-class, just add L and K and you have CLK. Same crappy C-class but you can pay more. Test drive them all and scratch your head about the lack of excitement and why the heck they sell so many Mercedes cars. Even the AMG did not do it for us. Nothing wrong with eaither brand just not right for me. When Audi starts building 400hp cars it will be for real, and then C&D will have something to write about.

The S Type R will be available for sale in May 02. It is indicated that this is not a limited run, but rather a model like the XJR. The 2003 S Types are being delivered to dealerships now. I saw two trucks of them while getting my Audi serviced Friday. Pricing is $62,400 according to Kelly Blue Book. Biggest knock I have read about so far is quality of materials in the interior. It still does not come up to the German quality, but most say it is a fun car to drive - if a Jag can be fun.

Happens from time to time. Do you have an A6 2.7T or previous generation (1996 to 2001) A4?

It isn't as good a car as the A6, and it costs $60K+? A ripoff.

Both are the same platform, just like the Mondeo and S-Type.

Besides, I'd compare the S-Type to the Ford Contour/Merc Mystique, as they are the 4-door versions of the Mondeo platform and the S-Type is also 4-door.

X-Type and (current) Mondeo are same platform. Mondeo is the European name of the same car, also 4 door, (previous generation) that was the now discontinued Contour and Mystique. The current Mondeo has no direct Ford or Mercury counterpart. S type is not (current or past)Mondeo platform. Taurus is neither platform. S Type is rwd, Taurus and Mondeo/Countour/Mystique are/were fwd. The X type is awd largely to differentiate it from the current Mondeo that is still fwd.
