I received a Panasonic 8 disc CD changer from Crutchfield with an adaptor made by Periferal Electronics. I assumed the adapter would work with the DP-801(8 disc changer) but I was wrong (it's made for the 6 disc changer). Where will I find an adaptor to work with the DP-801. I've read the archives and i know it can be done.

thanks for any help you can offer

What do you mean it doesn't work? Do you get the CD/Radio connected? Try this...
Press and hold Mode button when you turn the radio on. If it reads NO CDC... then, you have a problem with the connection. If it reads CONNECTED, you are good to go. To access Disc 7&8, use the next disk buttons on the far left.
BTW, I talked with the guys at Peripherals and they said these adapter are hand made. So, it is not uncommon for them to have problems/glitches.
I had similar problem where the CD would work, then would just stop working... if you need help troubleshooting... drop me a line.

They said that the only adaptor they have available is for the Delta radio 98-99, i dont even think they make the Delta radio anymore unless it is the same as the Concert radio i have in my car. Anyways the adaptor fits fine into the factory plug you find in the trunk, the problem is that it won't fit into the plug that comes with the 8 disc CD changer. The plug that comes with the Panasonic CD changer is a round male plug with 8 pins, but plug from Peripheral is also a male with 13 pins, they would never fit. Am i missing something?

I don't remember what I have...and as much I like to unplug my adapter to help, I don't want to risk having a screwed up connection again.
Where did you get adapter from? Crutchfield? Get them to resolve the problem... they are usually pretty good about that.
Sorry couldn't be more helpful.

Funny thing... same thing happened to me last week. I also thought that the adapter was the same for the 601 and 801. But, nope.

Anyways, you can use a Blitzsafe adapter for the 801. I got one the other day (about $80 CDN from a local stereo shop) and it fits the changer and the pin out for the Audi looks right (haven't installed it).

Or something like that. It's about $65 to buy it alone. Crutchfield has no clue about connecting the 801 to an A4 stereo...I went throught exactly the same thing. If you buy it from Autotoys.com, it comes with the adapter and works fine. They are slow getting them in the mail and their customer service s*cks. BUT I, and many others here, got the changer and adapter and it worked fine.

Feel free to email me, as I'm not on the board that much anymore (LAN-nazis at work).

Rodney

I ordered my 801 from Autotoys for a '99.5 A4. They sent me the incorrect adapter and were thoroughly unresponsive when I tried to exchange it for the correct one.

Ultimately, Blitzsafe came to the rescue. Lincoln (at Blitzsafe) is a great guy, and he saw to it that I received the right adapter.
