As part of a fix for non-starting problems, my 1998 A6 2.8 Quattro has just been fitted with a new engine coolant thermostat, part number 078121113F.
According to Audi Technical Bulletin 15-01-02, the part number for the replacement thermostat should be 078121113G.
Can anyone tell me please if the wrong one has been fitted or is the suffix merely a minor variation of what is still the correct part?
By the way, the temperature gauge now reads slightly lower (just below the previous vertical needle reading). The bulletin says it should read higher after the thermostat replacement so this tends to suggest the wrong part has been fitted. However, before going back to the garage I want to be 100 percent sure of my facts.
