General Motors said it's gearing up its Internet operations by
forming a new unit dubbed E-GM, with electronic malls and other
services aimed at stoking sales. "We want to put a bear-hug on
e-commerce," said G. Richard Wagoner, Jr., president and chief
operating officer of General Motors (GM). The new business group
expects to put GM products and services "closer to customers" by
using electronic malls to deliver real-time, interactive services.

I have never warmed up to too many of GM's products. They can have all the web they want and I won't buy one. I can't imagine buying anything without checking it out in person first, this is especially true for anything as expensive as a car. I wouldn't buy a GM car if the dealership was in my backyard.

I just wish Audi was a little more information friendly.

If GM's objective is to stoke sales, they should start by building decent products. It's a shame that a company with GM's resources is unable or unwilling to compete with carmakers Japan and Europe. I'm surprised they can sell anything, but then I look at the popularity of NASCAR and Pro Wrestling and my thinking is shot to hell. I digress, time to go for a spin in the A4.
