I was looking through the events in the back of EC the other day and noticed there is a Quattro driving school in Portland in early November. Is anyone going to that one? Anyone ever gone to one of them? Are they worth it?
Just curious.

in two weeks, and will be the event master for one in October at Summit Point Raceway.

You get two days on the track, about 4-5 20-minute sessions per day. It isn't "racing," but, instead, teaches you haow to drive, brake, turn, etc. Visit our chapter web page for information, as well as the NorthEast QCUSA chapter's (link is on the PCR-QCUSA page).

I have been to a few track events, but none run by the Quattro Club yet. I have never been near a QCUSA event, and RA is 1,100 miles away. However, I expect that it will be more than worth the drive :)

I have really enjoyed the events that I have gone to, and I have heard good things about QCUSA events. The PCA events are cheap but crowded. The SCCA events have a lot of variety and are tuned a little more towards racing. I have not been to a BMWCCA event. The ones I enjoy are just a local group, with PCA instructors.

Expect something to break on your car, but probably not anything catastrophic. I have not gone off the course yet, but everyone does sooner or later. The track we use has lots of grass, so no big deal. The things you will learn could save your life someday, I knew a few people, nice people and generally good drivers, that really could have used the knowledge :(

It is also the most fun I have had in years, and I am not that old!! You don't have to drive any faster than you feel like, so at least go to one and try it out. The biggest risk in these things is addiction :) It would be best to time it right before you replace your tires, although the SP8000E's wear really well if you have them.

The PIR QCUSA event will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov 5&6. The NW Region Audi Quattro Club will be sending out event flyers and updating the website in the next few weeks. This will be a pretty decent event, and it has a history of being fun and well-attended. Looking forward to seeing a lot of folks there!
