Finnaly I have compleated my audio system in my 96 A4... fills in the sound perfectly..
Blaupunkt nevada deck
kenwood kfc 5-1/2 in the rear
the stock Nokia speakers up front...(lemmy tell you why.. ok the left speaker in the front of my a4 is a dvc component..lets see you find one of those...anyway the extra coil hooks up to your phone imput... very nice...i took my deck to -7 bass and +7 treble and i can't tell the differnce between them and my friends boston acustics...saved $500 on componets to..)
BOSS 250x 2 amp
1 lanzing pl900 12" sub in a bandpass box...
IF you want new rear speakers!! cause the nokias SUCK.. you have to run new wires back to them and hook them up to your decks rear out STOCK wires are in your decks preouts cause the nokias have a 20x2 amp one the left rear speaker..and you wonder what that big silver thing was.. so just run new wires and hook them up right and you will be very satisfied... i am ..so far i am the only one i know of that has a after market system in their A4. a

I have the following setup.
Alpine CD deck with a Scosche adapter plate,
Boston Pro series 6.2's in the rear with the tweeters up front driven by an Alpine V12 amp.
and one Rockford Punch DVC powered by a Punch amp.
I installed the entire system myself. May soon be changing out the front stock speakers for Bostons to match the rest of the system.

On the stuff you purchased from LLTek...
How good was the paint match?
How was your experience with them overall?
I might want to get some side mirrors or something from them and my impression so far has been people have not had good experiences with them (hence the name LLCrap)

A while back, way back, i had some serious audio plans for the A4......
2 McIntosh 4x100 amps (1 to drive mids and highs and 1 bridged to run subs in stereo), diamond separates all around (the old ones, not the new crappy diamonds), and 2 JL 10's....a friend of mine works at a car stereo shop and i was going to get a phenominal discount and we (mostly him) were going to do the install......
well a few things changed, i acquired an old blazer, started autoXing and track driving.... so i decided to do some suspension work (H&R coilovers) since the stock suspension sucked, the blazer needed a motor rebuild (after 185k miles), and i decided to put a stereo in the blazer instead of tearing up the audi.....
after the rebuild of the blazer, i gutted the interior to sound deaden EVERYTHING and put a stereo in it.....i went with: Eclipse 5303R (head unit), Eclipse 4x50 (4x100 @ 2 ohms) to run mids and highs, sounstream rubicon 1002 (1000x1) to drive subs, sounstream spl separates (2 ohm) up front and coax's in the rear, and last but not least 2 soundstream exact 10" subs....
Yeah...its loud!!
thanks to my friend, i paid A LOT less than retail...A LOT... and thats the only reason i bought the soundstream subs....they will probably be switched out sometime to something that can handle the power (like the aluminum cone eclipse subs!)
Anyways.....my audi still has the stock stereo (plus the changer)......maybe i should take my system out of the blazer and cram it in the audi :-) ...... whadda ya think Rich??

That would be INSANE in the A4 man... But cool!
I dunno about stuffing the Blazer's system in the Audi though.. Then you'd whine about the added weight of the stereo!! :P
Oh yeah, and since I HAVE TO give you some flak in EVERY post...
Not trying to be harsh or anything but if you really think you are the only one with a system in an A4 you are on crack. Go to www.jlaudio.com
to see one that blows the hell outa 99% of the
a4 systems in existance.
Trust me, many people have systems in their A4's.

My little starts with:
Rockford Fosgate 400a4 Amplifier
Sony MiniDisc Deck
Sony CD Changer
Kenwood P601 component 61/2" with 1" tweeters
JBL 10" subwoofer with vented case
Rockford Fosgate Fantastic X 4" components with 1" tweeters
Please note....I have seen SERIOUS installations in an A4 (mulitple subs/Amps additional speakers with additional pods, TV's and VCR's and Sony Playstations........that is why mine is a little installation when compared to these monsters.)

I have a set of Rockford Fosgate Fantastic X's and they don't sound all that good (despite being $330+tax and install). What was necessary to fit 5 1/4" in the door frame and where did they use the MDF...Was this necessary in the back as well (I just dumped my tweeters on the deck as well with the 6 1/2" ...I'm not so sure this is good)
Would appreciate an answer from a fellow audiophile and audiphile

oh-yeah! Please don't turn up the base and let your license plate rattle to show how big a man you are. Sport the hot chicks, not the loud stereo.

I've always been treated right by them... I have purchased OVER $4000 of products from them, and have been pleased with everything, and they have been willing to work with me with the one or 2 items I had a problem with. These problems were from no fault of LL Tek's, by the way.
I'd say I'm just lucky, but I have probably bought more from them than anyone, so you'd think I would have had a bad experience by now, huh?
The paint matching was DAMN good... And you know I have a pearl car, the HARDEST to match! Only way to get a better match would be to re-spray the WHOLE car.... which I can't do.. $$$
Rich
P.S. I have no affiliation with LL Tek, nor am I sponsered, etc...

Quinland

Rich I remember reading something about how you didn't like the extra molding LLTek sells to replace the rocker panel rubber molding. Why? and what did you do instead?
Thanks.

Clarion CD head unit, 12 disc changer, and DSP all connected by fiber optic wire. a/d/s amp powering Dyna-audio mids and highs, and RF amp powering JL Stealth box ported into cab through cut out between rear speakers. The signal to noise ratio is the best I have ever heard. I'm picking up on things on my favorite CDs that I never heard before. All thanks to Jeff at Earmark in Dallas.

Speaking of my blazer and no brakes.....i just dropped another 80 bucks today on the blazer
- new brake lines for both sides of the front: i noticed that the cover on one side was warn through
- 4 caliper bolts: i broke one, so i am replacing all of them
- 4 caliper bolt sleeves: one was already broken, so they are all getting replaced
oh yeah, and some DOT 3 brake fluid....talk about old school :-)
boy am i gonna have a fun weekend!!!

He used a standard mounting ring, and made an angled mounting plate from the MDF and silicone.. This *is* a rather eclectic approach to mounting the speakers, and not required just to get the 5 1/4's to fit, but he did it to get the best possible imaging and soundstage.
MB Quart makes a 5 1/4" adapter that works very well from what I've seen.
I don't have any rear fill, as IMO it makes for an unnatural sounding car, although a more enveloping one for 90% of people... Looks like 5 1/4's will drop right in, so I'd imagine 6 1/2's would go in with some coaxing..

Quinland

Well, the strips of painted molding they sell do the job, since you will have some holes left over when you remove the litle 'balls' that hold the factory molding in place.
My plan is to someday remove the molding, have the holes filled, and re-painted. Thsi will probably have to wait until the car requires re-painting, or Ed McMahon pays me a visit :)

You have a set of speakers in your rear deck, driven by 2 channels of your amp. Then you only have the TWEETERS in the FRONT driven by the amp??? Not the mids too?
In the words of that guy from "King of the Hill"... "Whut the hell?"
