I haven't seen these up close. Any pics out there?

Comment: Most folks like 'em fine unless they're wide. I'm wide. I don't like 'em.
Pix: Give me an e-mail, and I'll check my archive for pix and send you some.

The sport seats are awesome, not as firm as I'd like at times, but a great compromise between the luxo-standard seat and a good hard S4 seat. Most, not all, who have bigger asses don't like 'em and many, not all, those with skinnier asses do.
They are definitely worth it and the side bolters (upper and lower) are not too hard and don't impinge that much.
My opinion, smarter people may have better ones.
Sorry for the multiple posts, but I forgot how to do multiple pics on one post.

the digicam out and shoot its most common subject. Plus, I forgot I had to pull 'er into its lava-lamp room for the night.

I bought the S4 instead of the A6--one reason is for the seats. I have a bad back and look for the firmest seats possible, and the S4 seats are stiffer than either choice on the A6.

Love the A6 sport seats -- I have a bad back, and have been very happy with the Audi seats. fwiw, my prior car was a Saab 9000 (non-Aero), and I think these are even more comfortable.

1. Front: not too firm, not too soft. Some complain that they're too narrow, but I don't think that I'm small, and I love 'em (would not get the car without!). These are the onyx/black satin, whatever, but they are black as specified from the factory. They are not black as delivered. It's an even split between black and gray. Dark gray, I'd call it. I like it actually, but am happy it's not any lighter. Lots of power adjustments including a lumbar device which goes up and down as well as in and out (save me the jokes, I don't know how else to describe it). The key fobs (2) have memory (seat, mirrors and - in the 4.2 - steering wheel (it's not a power wheel in the 2.7)) for their users which is really nice. The sport seats only come with the horizontal panels (ambition interior has vertical panels, but if ordered with Sport package, you get horizontal panels). A Good Thing, IMO.

2. Rear: this is a four-person car. I really don't mind the "hump" in the rear seat, or the lack of the third head restraint there, but the no center 3-point belt is a crappy decision on Audi's part. It's a rare occurence to have 5 people, but pretty embarassing to me to have a car that I brag about ESP, Quattro, ABS, Front/Side/Rear airbags safety devices and then have to have the center person strap in with a 1960's style lap belt! Obviously, we put the least favorite person there, so things could work out okay if there's a bad accident. Kidding.

There's my take!

More variety of pictures and more of my take at the link. Hopefully will update the site with new pictures and comments soon (a lot better perspective after 3 months with the car).

http://www.parallaxview.com</a

I haven't owned to the standard seats to compare, but they just don't fit me. I'm not wide (5'11" 180 lbs). They aren't too narrow, I just can't get comfortable. The back just isn't right. There's a bulge about mid back that doesn't work for me. The lumbar support is very hard, so I end up with it fully retracted. They're just fine for the first hour, but after that I'm squirming, and adjust the rest of a trip. I'm not saying they are horrible, they just don't fit me well.

They don't work for the 5'2" wife either. The side bolster is in the way of her shifting elbow.

The seats in our Vette work a LOT better for both of us. They are softer, yet more support. The lumbar is adjustable airbags(low and mid), so you can regulate the pressure, not some bar poking you in the back. The side bolsters are bigger but more contoured(no shifting arm problem). It's a sad day when Chevy puts out a better product :)

Lots of support and even more adjustment range than the S4 had.

This oddity has been the subject of recent discussions.

I'd gladly pay an extra charge for Recaro seats, which, regrettably, Audi won't fit to North American cars, not even the S8. In March this year, in France and in Italy, I looked carefully at S6 and S8 Audis with Recaro seats, which apparently are as comfortable as they are beautiful
