The engines are significantly different...drive by wire on TT...different injectors on TT...among other things. If you want another comment try Jason Dale on the audi-tt.org forum...he works for a dealer..and is very interested in the TT.

Believe it or not, Audi actually build two 1.8 engine blocks. The TT's (and S3 in Europe) are stonger built to cope with a high boost. For example the ignition is integrated onto the side in the TT, but it's a seperate unit on A4. I would suggest contacting TAP (total Audi performance) who will be able to supply new software that should give you the results your looking for. If money is OK, try to buy a less restrictive exhaust and air-box to take better advantage of potential from re-programmed engine management.

1.8T (150HP) the one you all know and love.
1.8T (180HP) Euro A4 Sport. Has a lightened flywheel and some other reinforced bits. (Don't know the details).
1.8T (???HP) for the TT which is again different from the other two.

So, I think the answer to your question is probably no.

There are chipping companies in Europe that have seperate chips for each engine so I would bet the three are different in more ways than one chip can handle.

Drive-by-wire throttle would require new chip development. A recent article about the New Beetle Turbo (in European Car, maybe?) stated that it will be a while before chip programmers sign up to tackle drive-by-wire due to liability considerations. A programming bug could inadvertently impact the throttle control.
