A4 lovers,
I'm looking into buying an Audi A4 2000 1.8TQ standard. Have any of you
bought this car online using either carorder.com or carsdirect.com?
I live in No. Cal so the car with the options I want for the 99.5 costs
about 26.5K out the door at carorder.com. I would think that the price
jump would be no more than 1K for the 2000. BTW, anyone else out there
bought/ordered the 2000 from a dealer/on-line dealer. How much?
I was initially looking into the Tip'ed version of the 1.8TQ, but there was no
way after test driving that dog. It made me really think twice about getting
a new car. I read the archives and the common feeling seems to be that the
1.8T w/ Tip sucks unless you have a chip. I really wanted a Tip since
I live in somewhat stop'n'go traffic and go up to SF quite a bit (that's what
I call under-pressure driving for a stick novice like me). I'm willing to pick
up manual again for a kick-ass car as the A4.
You guys rule.
I just bought a 99.5 1.8Tqms took 5 days to find, and got it at invoce. Great service from www.lineback.com. He's out of Texas and I'm in CA. Almost ordered a '00 but couldn't wait.

I'm gonna buy from carorder.com as well. Seattle area dealers will hardly go $1000 off MSRP. CarOrder.com will basically sell it to me at invoice.

if you are in Seattle, try my guy out! He searched a 6 state region for the cheapest/best deal availabe and got me a fully loaded A4 QSTip cheaper than carorder.com or any other service could get me! Believe me, I checked for weeks and weeks looking for deals after selecting the car we wanted. We ended up going with Auto Consultants NorthWest because it was the cheapest option, and my fiance was actually impressed with the service (she's picky - go figure how I landed her!) that Terry gave us.
Give our guy a call or drop him an e-mail. His name is Terry Esch and the company is Auto Consultants Northwest. If you are planning to lease - they are the leasing broker that most dealers in the area use.
I think his e-mail is tesch@acnw.com and their web site is www.acnw.com
Don't worry about the lack of service (or loaner car) from the area dealers. They are very hospitable and both service departments have offered me (without prompting) an Audi loaner while my car is being serviced even though my car was not purchased through them.
Get the car from Terry, use Barrier (or University Audi if you want a 7 vs. 10 day Barrier wait) for service.
I gotta get in the shower, my fiance is calling! I love washing her down more than I like washing the A4. I like waxing her more too. ;^)

Auto Consultants Northwest

Quattro, Onyx Leather, All Weather, Sport, (Bose) Audio w/6-disc CD, Tiptronic (for my fiance), Sunroof, Trip Computer, 3-spoke Sport Steering wheel (with Tip controls), convienance package.
All this on an A4 that had about 12 miles on the odometer when we picked it up!
(Basically everything but the sport seats and integrated phone - but both were offered at no additional charge - fiance didn't like the seats)
The best lease price I could find elsewhere for a 4 year lease was $540 a month (+ tax/licensing/etc) with nothing down. Audi prestige lease runs $552-$565/mo depending on milage.
We are paying $513.02/month plus tax on a 4 year lease with 15K miles a year with only a $300 deposit down.
Just so you know - I get nothing from this referral. No special discounts, nothing. I just want to help others get the best possible deal, and keep Terry and his partners in business long enough for us to get our S4 in 2001/2002!
Whatever you do/wherever you go/whoever you buy from, you will love the A4!
PS ...she made it well worth my while to get off the internet last night!
