Has anyone experienced the following problem and/or have any idea what it could be?

When cold my A4 tends to exhibit uneven acceleration (momentary plateaus in an otherwise smooth accel curve). Pulling onto a main road, it can be felt most in 2nd gear under light to moderate acceleration. I've also felt tinges of these momentary slumps (a very unsettling feeling, by the way) under hard acceleration with the engine warm. It feels almost as though someone is lightly feathering the accelerator (which in fact I'm holding perfectly steady). I don't know if its engine, drivetrain or what. . . could it be a faulty injector, a funky turbo? No fault codes at the dealer. They're stumped.

This problem has been occurring for about a year now. My A4 is currently chipped (Neuspeed) but I experienced this phenomenon well before the chipping.

To make matters worse the service manager was babbling something about not covering any warranty issues on the engine since its chipped (when testing the turbo performance they can easily tell a chipped car from a non-chipped one).

I would greatly appreciate any input on these issues! Anyone experienced this? Any ideas as to it's cause? Anyone had chipping/warranty issues with their dealer? MUCH ADVANCE THANKS!

that many people here experience with their 1.8Ts. No one really knows why, but I guess it's happening with a lot of people. I have this slight hesitation as well, but it's not extremely noticeable or anything. I just try to accelerate smoothly when the engine is cold. Don't really notice it as much when the engine is warm.

If it is a hard throttle you could be hitting the knock sensor. Are you using the A/C? These are the only times I notice any hesitation.
