What's the proper way to warm up the 1.8? I'm used to just letting a car idle for a few minutes after starting it, but the instruction manual says to be ready to drive it off right after starting it, and just drive slow. Does either way really make a difference? Thanks in advance for all responses.

Both Audi and the archives on this site see, to point toward just driving away after starting the car...don't let it idle for any long amount of time. Read more at the link below or search for "warm up" in the archive.

as soon as you can drive without the car stalling. On modern cars, this means almost right away. However, for the first couple of miles, one is supposed drive easily until the temp comes up.
