I first noticed it this afternoon on the way home from work. I think someone had mentioned that theirs faded when it was really hot out, but it's rather pleasant in Denver today. My Z3 odometer did some strange things in the heat/sunshine one day. I'll keep an eye on it and let everyone know what happens.

You've got TCHF (Trip Computer Heat Fade). Take it to your dealer and they will replace the entire Instrument Cluster. Hopefully mine is fixed today.

If you have a part with a known relatively high failure rate, I'd think you'd want the new one in there ASAP so that it has more time in use while you are still under warranty (assuming you still are): I'm having mine done at the 1 yr. service instead of waiting, so I have 2 more yrs. of warranty coverage for it: if it dies again before the end of warranty, I'll have a 3d installed, and if it dies (after warranty) I will be in a good position to argue that the part is inherently defective and that Audi should cover subsequent replacements in whole or in part...

mine would start to fade at about 50F and then be gone by about 80F. I waited and had mine done with the scheduled service. Just warn them when you make the appointment so they have one in stock. It is easy and fast to replace.
