On my older Honda Accord and my 2001 Volvo, the cruise control shuts off when the driver merely touches the brake pedal. On my A6 2.7T, the driver must actually apply the brakes (depress the pedal partially, rather than merely tap it) for the cruise control to disengage. Is this an abnormality in my vehicle, or do other A6's operate the same? Does anyone on this forum know if it is possible to adjust the amount of brake pressure necessary to disengage the cruise control?
on 10-02-00 for excellent instructions by DougG_2.7T for adjusting brake lights/cruise release.

I've noticed that my brake lights don't come on until I've actually applied a little bit of pressure...
I just read Doug's instructions on how to adjust the switch, and I'm thinking it would have been so much smarter to have the tip-lockout connected to the brakelights rather than the cruise-tap. Just my two cents.
And Audi got *SO CLOSE* to designing the perfect cruise-control switch. Instead of that silly, unreachable slide-switch on top of the stalk, why didn't they use the same rocker-type tip as they used on the trip-computer? Push upper or lower would set cruise, pushing just the upper would accelerate, the lower part decelerate. Maybe even smart -- one click, change by 1 mph, two quick clicks, change by 5 mph.
The way it's set up right now, I keep turning on the high beams...

Get it checked out and fixed/corrected before you get rear-ended like many other unlucky A6 owners!

Could explain this guy's problem and make him a prime candidate for the next rear-ending!

I've had cruise control on my cars for over twenty years...never to do more than touch the pedal for disengagement before. I think its a hazard on my A6.
