3 Saturdays ago I went to Don McGill Audi/Porsche in Houston. I purchased a pre-owned Imola Yellow S4 from their lot, and traded in my pretty modified '00 GTI GLX. I signed all the paperwork, and I was off and away in the S4.

A week later, I recieve a call from Mike Gibson (The Business Manager at DM Audi) saying they need a cosigner or $7700 down for the loan to go through. Huh? Say what? A week later you are telling me to jump and find a cosigner or a pretty large sum of cash (For a 21 year old) for this loan to go through? Tucking my tail between my legs, I went to my mom for help. She said she would consider helping me with the down payment. After more and more thought and talking to people, we decided that they were completly wrong to demand that kind of cash from me in such a short time.

Meanwhile, in that week that went by before they called me, they sold my GTI to Momentum Volkswagen/Audi. Momentum Volkswagen/Audi then turned around and sold the car to another individual who paid cash for the car exactly one week after I traded it.

Today I called a lawyer, and the district attorneys office. I now have a lawyer that is consulting me on what I need to do. I basically have given Don McGill Audi till 5pm tommorow (Wednesday) to return my GTI to me. I talked to the General Manager and he said that it would be no problem to get my old car back...but it was only after I mentioned the word lawyer to the pre-owned manager that I was patched through to the GM. I asked him how they planned on getting my car back since it was now in the possession of another person, and he basically told me it was none of my business in not so many words.

We'll see what happens. My lawyer is giving them till 5pm tommorow to return my car, or its on from there. I've given them an ultimatum just as they gave me one. Its almost midnight and I've been up all night the last week or so trying to deal with this stress. I will never ever step foot inside Don McGill Audi because of this. I will say that Ed Stojanik, my sales person was great, but the rest of the business practices and staff are complete jerks.

Please Please think twice and read and reread everything if you purchase a car from Don McGill Audi/Porsche. I'm not looking for sympathy, but just trying to inform others of how DM operates.<p>Zerin Dube

Didn't the papers you signed include loan documents? Was the loan not cleared with the final lender at that time? Sounds like the dealer's problem- not yours.

Most loan docs signed at the car dealer have a right of recission. This means that if they are not able to find a lender to approve the loan they can take the car back. However, they normally have to give you your trade-in back.
