Just installed a set of 993 TT "big reds" on my A4 and let me say that they did not disappoint!! I'm surprised that the pedal feel is actually firmer than stock and I haven't changed over to the stainless steel brake lines yet... Anyhow, I haven't tried any 100 mph stops yet cos' it's snowing pretty hard outside but I'm dying to take the car out on to the track again to see the difference.... Well, at least I have tested that the ABS works fine... Last season's track days left my stock rotors billowing out tons of smoke and I had to brake about 30 ft before the ideal braking point (at least the point where I would brake with an E36 M3).
Before the purchase, I had considered either an AP 4 or 6 pot setup or the Porsche calipers. I didn't consider the Brembo brake kit because I thought the calipers where visually too small... (like the ones found on the Axis A4) I had the Racing Dynamics/Brembo brake kit two years ago on an E36 325is and the rotors warped on my first track session... (it was really cheap though: I got it in HK for about $1300 US) The AP 4 pots weren't visually striking (when compared to the "big reds") and the 6 pots didn't have dust seals; a must for the harsh road conditions in Canada.. I DID NOT purchase the kit from movit' (ultimate garage) because I couldn't afford it.. I was quoted $2700 U.S (around $4000 Canadian) plus shipping, 15% tax in Ontario, plus installation would have brought the price close to the 5K CDN range... I had the hats, brackets, etc custom made and the whole kit installed, ready to go, for $3500 Canadian (around $2333 US). For a picture, please go way down the posts to the thread that reads "Big brakes and Big rims on a silver A4" and special thanks to a kind individual who fixed the link to the picture in one of the reply posts.. (it may be on page 2 or 3 of this forum)
All in all, if any of you are considering this brake kit, I highly recommend it only if you drive the nuts out of your car on the track or else you won't see much improvement from the stock units if you do regular city driving...
