View Full Version : 2001 vs 2000 A6 2.7T - Is it worth the wait?

I'm about to buy a 6 speed (stick) 2.7T. Melange/Melange. What opinions are out there on buying a remaining year 2000 vs ordering and waiting for the 2001?

Options I'm looking for are PAW Cold Weather, PCX Convenience, PX3 Xenon, PBS Bose, 4X3 Air Bags, and Leather. I don't care for sports seats, so no sports package.

Anyone know how these specific options get bundled for 2001? Anything new in the 2001 model?

Thanks

There are a bunch of threads on this topic. Big 2001 items are ESP is standard, warranty goes to a 4/50000, side curtain bags are standard. Your dealer should have the new option packages and prices. You've been able to order a 2001 for a number of months now.

I waited- started this whole thing in Jan. and cancelled my 2000 order to wait for a 2001. I like the new things standard for '01, ESP side airbags, longer warranty, etc. But, if you don't care about these things and want the car now, you can probably strike up a pretty good deal on the '00s as the 2001s will be here soon, probably early July. (Hopefully!) It's your choice! Mine was to wait for a '01.

Good luck!

Neddie,
In addition to standard ESP and longer warranty, options appear to be more "bundled" for 2001.
I believe that, instead of being a separate option, the Xenons are now included in the PPX Premium Package.
Carry on,
Major B.

as it seems they're hard to move. Find the '01 pricing thread in the archives and then go to a dealership and see how close you can come to your ideal color/option mix and then make a business decision. You'll definitely save $$.

Any specifics you can give me on these lease deals? I am going to the dealer today to discuss leasing a 2.7T 6 speed. It's been on the lot a while, so I'm hoping to get a deal. Any help would be appreciated.

I copied the following post that appeared on this board within the last week. My boss just leased a loaded 4.2 w/no money down for $730/month.

Just so you guys who haven't bought one yet know, AFS just came out with a great lease program. Money factor of .00180 (around 4.3% interest) on any remaining 2000 A6 2.7T 6spds and 4.2s. Should cut your payments substantially, so if you were looking, here's your chance to cut a great deal for yourself.

I seem to recall that you're not supposed to lease late in the model year; affects residual or something.

Just got back from the dealer. I think they were smokin' something over there. Or they thought I was. They wanted $715 + tax per month for the 2.7T 6-speed. This car costs about $10K less than the 4.2 Frank C.'s boss leased for $730 month. And this was 12k a year for 39 months. They tell me the interest rate is 8.5% and that they never heard of this other deal with the 0.0018 money factor (4.3%) This is the same dealer that has my deposit for an S8. Needless to say I am not a happy camper. Has anyone else heard of a better interest rate on this car?

Unless you have a credit problem (and can't qualify for the lower rate), the Audi finance Co. rate I received last last week was about 6.6% on a 36 mos. lease. The rate lower than that mentioned in these posts is promotional to move the 4.2s I guess. Find another dealer !

Unless AoA doesn't offer the same programs nationally. If not, yes - hosed.

That's why I walked out of the dealership. But I still want the car. Where did you get your info on these lease deals? I've already spoken to another dealer and he didn't know of any great rates on the 2.7T either. (He did at least know more about the S8 than my local dealer, which is not a good thing for me, since they have my $)

The really great rate is apparently only available on the 4.2 and the 6 spd. 2.7t. But mine was a 2.7t tip and my effective lease rate was the 6.6% mentioned earlier. The dealer's lease and/or finance manager must know about this stuff unless he's a complete zero. Was the lease they quoted from Audi Financial or from another financial institution? Assuming your credit is spotless they could be doing one of two things: Adding some profit to the Audi lease for himself, or the dealer gets a better deal from the other bank he's quoting from. Call Audi yourself if you have a problem. They'd love to know about a dealer screwing you around. Or call the Better Business Bureau!

In a conventional lease, the value of a car gets lower the closer you are to a new model year. This adjustment happens monthly.

Audi has some great rates on the A6 2.7t and 4.2. Look at the message Marshal1 has postedregarding these details.

The car was a 2.7T 6 speed, it was through Audi finance, and I have excellent credit, but I'm young and they think they can screw me!
