I had my car back from the timing belt replacement almost 4 days when I heard this crunching sound when I put down my driver's door window Saturday. Something fell apart or off track, obviously, because it wouldn't come back up. Of course, this meant that our 60 day drought broke the next day. Figures...

Think this one has put me over the edge. No more Audis. Too many problems. My second in the three months since my warranty expired.

Sorry to have to say it.

Not just Audi...My Infiniti G20 has had the drivers window motor replaced and then 1 year later the entire track cable assembly needed replacing.

I think your lesson learned should be don't get a first year model of any car. The 96 A4 was/is the first year model, and you know what they say - and its true - first year models usually have many problems and should be avoided. I've had first year models of other cars (including a Japanese built Acura) and can tell you I will NEVER buy a first year model of any car ever again.

I had a 93 E36 BMW. It was the third year into that model and I had virtually no problems. Some friends had bought the first year model of the same car and swore they'd never own another bimmer.
