Ran across an interesting statistic (poll done by FORZA)... 90% of F355 F1 drivers cite "talk on the cell phone" as the "only reason" or "deciding factor" for spending the additional $10,000 for the F1 automanual transmission as opposed to the six-speed manual.

Currently: 6spd 993C4
Coming in April: 6spd 225Q

If they want to call my cell phone while I'm driving, they can leave voicemail.

Every Italian has a cell phone and are always calling "mama" or some friend to say absolutely nothing. It's an Italian thing.

I'll still post about PSK, in between my whackings, spaghetti dinners and calls to mama.

It may be interesting for you guys to know that here in Switzerland it is not allowed to use a cell phone without handsfree installation. Makes really sense I think - statistics show phone calls as a reason for many severe accidents.
If the police catches you with a phone in your hand while driving that will cost you (for the first time) 100 Swiss Francs (61 US$) fine!

Telecommunications industry lobby is much $$stronger in the US. What about the law in Germany (Deutschetelecom!)?

It seems to me that you have gotten stopped for this, right?

Here in California we are close of getting the same law enforced, or that's what I have heard.

Uebrigens, es ist gut zu wissen, dass es auch andere Schweizer in diesem forum gibt.

Reto

If I'm not mistaken it is still OK to use on the Autobahn.

Well lets put it this way, when I was there last in Summer 99 it was.

We havent allowed anything but handsfree phones in cars for several years, yet UK mobile telecomms industry is so strong its taking over german and US companies.

Maybe UK politicians are less dependant on 'campaign contributions' (AKA legal bribes) to fund soft money attack ads than in the US.

Hi Reto

No - I wasn't stopped because I have a since "ever" a handy in my car with handsfree installation. Currently it's the Nokia car handy in my 4.2 which allows to use the central dash board info display to select names from the SIM card using the controls on the multifunction steering wheel...

>> And now for the Swiss only: Wo bist Du denn in den USA? Wohnst Du dort permanent oder nur vorübergehend? Ich bin in einer Woche geschäftlich für einige Tage in Boston!
