I did not notice the yucky stuff until 20 hours
later. I immediately tried to remove it with
the carwash. No luck! Oh my gosh, this is
terrible. After I scrub it off, I see two small
dull marks that simply would NOT come off no
matter how hard I scrub it with the sponge.

Then I noticed a few what seem like scratch
marks around the dull spots. Probably caused by
my scrubbing technique.

Looks like I need to try out the 2 or 3 step
process: prewax polish then wax the problem area.

I have the same problem. The clearcoat gets etched. It needs a real buffing and polishing.

A lot of guys on this page swear that clay bars are REALLY effective at removing this sort of crap (punn completely intended). I haven't tried it yet myself because it sounds like a lot of work. I'm sure the archives has more...

I have a Brill Black A4 and this has been a constant problem for me. My take on it is this: Bird Crap is a natural occurance and it happens to every car. Why should it stain the clear coat and why is it so hard to remove?

My Audi dealer's answer had something to do with the high acid content of Bird Droppings. They agreed that it was a huge inconvenience and agreed to buff out all stains (with a wheel) if I brought it in to the dealer. They have removed quite a few stains for me already.

I love the Black A4 - But my next A4 (or S4) will be silver.

so does Griot, except with his Fast Shine. Sounds like you need to take this panel back down to the clear coat with clay, then polish and re-wax.
