Are the stock 2.7T tires any good?
Did every one get the same tire type -
mine are Continental Contitouring Contact - $73 at tire rack - seems a bit cheap for a 2.7T.

Seem okay to me (I have them). Same tires as come on an $85,000 Mercedes S500, so they are probably okay. BMW uses them also on some 5-series cars.
I'm sure you can do better if you want to pony up more $$$.

I've gotten used to mine. Seem to be a nice tradeoff between grip and ride. They remind me of the original Michelin X tires, a bit "springy" on turnin then solid with good feedback on hard
cornering. I like the absence of road noise and tire slap on California concrete highways.

Interestingly, the same Continental Contitouring Contact on my Dad's Benz is made in, I recall, Mexico, whereas mine (on the 2.7T) is Germany.
With VW connection in Mexico.. I would think the other way around!

I guess it depends what you're looking for in a tire. I think the Conti's are an exceelent value for a touring tire. Smooth, quiet, excellent wear characteristics. But, when they wear out I'll be looking for some Dunlop 9000's (like on the 4.2's.)
