I have been out of town for a couple of weeks this holdiay season and before I left, the little screen where your mileage is shown(whats it called anyway?) was blinking "oil". I was leaving already so didnt botherr to check it with the dealer. the oil level was ok and was pretty clean.<p>Now three weeks later its blinking "In 1" or something like that. I dont know what this means but I am due for my 36,000 km service(live in Canada). <p>Is this error code just a reminder for the service or is it something else? PLease help me. Hey Patrick,<p>That would be your service indicator. "Service OIL" means you need an oil change service (according to km clocked, car can't tell how dirty your oil is :-) ), and "Service INSP" means you need an inspection service (i.e. your 32,000km service). According to my manual, the message will come on around 1000km or 10 days before service is due.<p>On my '98 model, (98.5), you can actually reset this service indicator yourself. I don't think you can on your '97 though.<p>Whatever the case, just call to book your appointment. It just tells you a service is due.
