After experiencing my first "real" winter weather situation (Toronto is a complete disaster), I have concluded that the washer nozzle doesn't do a great job regardless of where you aim it. The main reason is that it shoots a direct shot rather than a true spray This is something (probably the ONLY thing) I miss about my old '90 Cherokee. Anyone heard of aftermarket conversions of some sort?
'98.7 1.8tqm

I agree, but it's also a catch 22. If it doesn't shoot a stream, then under high speeds it would never work. So maybe it's a German thing - driving at high speeds and needing it to work right. It does a good job at 75mph, where as my Chevy wouldn't hit the windshield above 45mph (it blew the spray away).
Anyway - no matter what it's probably not ideal.

Chris Murphy
1998 A4 2.8QM Pearl

I hear you about the "aim" of the windshield nozzle. I stopped by the dealer and they stuck some pin-like object and re-aimed it to hit more of the windshield instead of the top of the car. I agree that I would rather have a spray instead of something which could poke your eye out.
I used to have a Grand Am and I miss the spray coming out of the wiper arm. Good luck on your search.
