I am interested in upgrading the Audi A4 stock stereo system (preserving the Concert head unit and OEM CD changer)by adding a high quality amplifer, front speakers, ?rear speakers?, and ?subwoofer?.<p> I don't need the loudest system, or one with the deepest bass response; I just want a musical sound system on which I can enjoy a mixture of rock, classical, and jazz CD's.<p> Can anyone recommend actual setups they have or have heard (please specifiy component names, retail and "street" prices) and describe their subjective strengths and weakness (ex. tonal accuracy, bass tautness and rhythmicity, imaging and soundstaging, micro- and macro- dynamics)?<p> I would like to spend between $1000 - $1500 dollars for the upgrade, although I would consider spending up to $2000 if it resulted in a substantially more musical audio system.<p>Thanks.

Guys, here's the problem: there's no "system" I can recommend, but there are numerous well matched combinations of components, based on budget, etc., which may satisfy your requirements. I have previously posted descriptions of my system, but there are variations (less or more expensive) which I could recommend. Give me more parameters or specifics & I'll try to help more.
