Hi! I've had my 2.8 QMS for only four months, and I've been driving with the A/C on. Today I tried it without A/C, and the car seemed to be much more peppy. Am I just imagining things, or does the compressor really take a lot away from performance?

You can detect this by running AC on "Lo" on a hot day and flooring it for a bit... air coming out of vents is MUCH warmer... then it recools once you let off gas. Try it and I think you will find that compressor does not rob power under full throttle. Let me know if I'm wrong.

... that the compressor will be shut off automatically in situations of "high engine load". I have a 99.5 2.8. I'm hoping that's the case, because it does make a big difference on almost all cars. I haven't experimented too much with on vs. off in this car yet, though.
I have a friend who occassionally pushes the "afterburner" button in his car for more power; he's actually switching the A/C off manually. :)
