I'm looking for an aftermarket wood trim to go with an Opal Grey interior on a MY 2000 1.8T.

Some questions I have:

1. I've seen the ones offered by Autobahnit, but it seems to be for the console, only. And the LLtek models are some fake, wood-look substance. Does anyone sell the real stuff?

2. How hard is it to apply? Has anyone installed it? Difficulties? Do it yourself, or have a pro do it?

3. Given the changes in the MY2000 models, would it be hard to modify existing kits?

I'd look in the archives, but it's broken.

Thanks,

DD

someone recently had posted that he had bought an aftermarket wood trim package. in summary, he said that if he were to do it again, he would go with the oem wood from audi. he said the overall workmanship of the audi wood was of much higher quality. i should be receiving my 1.8t in about 10 days. i ordered and received the oem audi wood from clair parts. i ordered the wood trim for 1. area surrounding the tip shifter, 2. ashtray, 3. area above radio (where the hazard button is). i went with the vavona wood that comes with the opal grey ambition (ambiente) atmosphere (if you were to order a 99.5 2.8). my 1.8 will be a hib red/ecru/clay. i think the wood combination will look nice. the 3 pieces will set you back almost 500.00 (it's not cheap). i can't imagine what the price would be for all the wood trim pieces. i think there's 3 different woods to choose from (2 are polished and 1 is open pore). you will need a 3 digit number (identifier) from your dealer/AOA, in order to get the right wood color. e-me if you would like the audi part numbers for the vavona wood. remember, mine is a tip. the console # might be different for a 5 speed. also, the 99.5's do not have wood trim around the radio/climate controls. sorry for the biblical length... al
