I installed my Raybestos brake pads yesterday and was using a jack stand to support the car while I was working. I couldn't really find a good spot to place the jack stand. Just wondering if anyone knows of a solid place under the car to set a jack stand for the front and back.
Thanks
98 1.8tqms
You are supposed to use the jacking points as the owners manual says. Though admittedly the shape of the points is not suited the the flat top surface of a jack stand. I remember reading about someone putting a slotted pad of some sort on the top of their jack stands to make them fit just like the stock jack. Don't rememeber what material they made it out of though.

If you are using a hydrolic jack to get the car up, there are two jack points for the front and one for the back. Once the car is up, you can put the jack stands where you would normally use the OEM jack. If you look under the car (front) arond where the front axle is you will see two metal half domes. There is another one in the back (center) also. If this is unclear, email me and I'll try to describe it better.
Howard Kim
98 A4 1.8tms(neu)
