It took 2 weeks to get from port to dealer but I finally picked up my A4 last Thursday! Woo hoo!
What a great car...Can't wait until break in period is over, then we'll see what she can really do....How do you people make it through the break in period!?? It's killing me, esp. since I have to drive 40 miles each way to work by highway!
Already had to wash the brake dust off the wheels this weekend...hmmm....maybe Raybestos is in my future.
Eric
99 2.8QS
Congratulations !! I'm sure you feel the wait was worth it.
Brake dust and dashboard dust have been a big nuisance for me; I guess I'll have to get used to a biweekly cleaning ritual.
I'm hitting 1500 miles this evening ; just about broken in !! Can't wait til I can full-throttle the engine and take it over 4000rpm ...

cheers
-K. '99 A4 1.8tqMS
1. The break-in period will go by very fast, especially if you take a weekend trip or two. Don't give in to temptation - wait until at least 1000 miles before redlining.
2. The brake dust is scary the first several hundred miles; after 1000 miles or so, it remains merely very annoying (just like with all the other european sedans, mind you).
3. During your highway commute, vary the speed as often as you can - maybe change between 4th and 5th gear even if you don't need it. The manual says to avoid long cruises at constant RPM.
I should know, I have only 1700 miles on it...
Enjoy your car,
Andrei D
Red 1.8T QMS

Like you, I had to wait a little over two weeks for my Avant qMS to be delivered after it came into port. It aws the longest and most aggravating part of my four+-month wait. Congratulations.
