Customs charges for the chip upgrades at the border? Also, if anyone has dealt with Wett's Edmonton office, could you inform me of the experience. I am looking at all the costs involved. I have already read up on all the different products, and been through the discussions in this forum.

I'm interest to chip my 99.5 1.8T too. But I'll wait after my first oil change service as expected coming Nov/Dec. I'm so interest in APR 1.0 bar chip and their spare ECU offer. I've emailed once to APR few weeks ago, but no reply from them. I'm also concerned about the custom too. And I'm wondered since they might ship through UPS and the UPS guy will ask me for paying the custom as they arrive at my house. So I'll see how much do I need to prepare for them by that time.

Relax. The chips are likely duty free. In fact, if they are manufactured in the US they are certainly duty free. the only thing you'll have to worry about is GST. Paul Martin** needs his "piece of the action".

I live in Vancouver and bought the APR 1.0 bar + ECU for $599 last month. The package was delivered by UPS (even though I requested APR to send by FedEx). I was charged ~$110 d**n brokerage fee by UPS (UPS sux!). Should've opted for regular UP postal service.

I dunno if I'd pay less for FedEx. But I think it'll more or less be the same.

After this experience, I'd say I will never choose UPS (etc.) to ship anything across the border. I'll just ask for US postal and deal with Canada Post/Customs directly.
