Does anyone know of a good roof rack system for the A4? (that will not interfere with the sunroof). I know that Thule has systems for the Audi. Hard to believe that it will work very well without rain gutters to latch onto........

...works great! Here's a couple of pix (see link, also). I haul skis and bikes, with no trouble. Yakima works just as well.
CraigB

A close-up

Be forewarned, the clips WILL cause your windows to leak, just give it time.
Scott
1.8tqms blah blah blah etc.

John,
I have the Yakima system. Like the Thule, it works well with car, mounting onto the roof easily and securely. If you have a sunroof, and plan to open it with the rack on top, it's almost imperative that you also get the rack fairing. While they can be pricey (about 80 bucks), they supposedly increase the gas mileage (you'll see a decrease with the rack on top, for obvious reasons), and will stop the incredibly loud humming you get from the wind passing the first cross bar. Without the fairing, it's amazingly loud, to the point where you will not want to open with sunroof. The system sold through the dealer is probably the same one you can get from your bike shop, where it will probably be cheaper. The difference between Thule and Yakima, in my opinion, is a matter of preference. Thule is made in Sweden, i believe, while the Yakima system is made in the US. I think the Yakima set up is a little easier to use. Hope this helps.
Phil.
98 2.8 QMS.
I placed a strip of inner tube between each clip and the car (see pix in post above). There's minimal distortion, plus we don't see much rain in Denver, so I haven't had any leaks yet.
CraigB

I have the Audi crossbars and a Thule bike carrier. The front wheel carrier was taken from something else, I forgot, the Thule didn't fit.
Follow the link below to get the images. The pics don't show the wind deflector, but that would be yet another Thule piece.
- Stan

Hybrid carrier images
