These may be silly questions, but I tried to search the archives and couldn't find any info:
1. Where exactly is the turbo located in the 1.8T engine? I've tried looking for a red glowing object under the hood, after driving home from work, and can't seem to find it!
2. Where is the air filter? In a turbo, isn't it extremely important that the filter be kept in excellent condition?
Thanks for your help.
Atul

Look low on the starboard side of the engine (passenger side in USA) nestled snugly under the exhaust manifold. Airfilter is under the black plastic cover farther staboard against the wheel well. BTW, red glow is not really all that apparent unless car has been driven hard, its dark out and you are quick to open the hood before it cools down.

As you're facing the front of your car, the engine is in the middle and the turbo is at the left side of the block toward the front about 1 ft down. The air filter is at the left side of the engine compartment under the shaped black cover.
Check the FAQ above for more info.
Steve
98.5 1.5Tqms
