I have noticed in the last couple of weeks as the temperatures reach 86+ (in Sydney) and with high humidity levels, that my A4 1.8T seems to lack the acceleration that i was enjoying only a relatively short time ago. It also seem to be sluggish even when changing between gears.
It's like she's telling me "give me a break - it hot out there".
Is this normal and is there a solution to get her perked up again!
John 1.8TMs

This is also experienced with normaly aspirated cars but turbo cars at least twice the performance drop.

I'm curious about this one. I've had mine for a year and 30k plus miles, and the only performance change I've noticed in any weather (other than the need for a brief warm-up in bitter cold) has been the steady improvement in responsiveness and elasticity as the miles increase. In New England, we get pretty hot and muggy in July and August, although the past summer wasn't too bad. 98.5TQMS.

Lucky dogs!
It's been -15C here in Toronto. Plus there is a winter storm on the way Saturday night!
Bah!

This is normal for all cars and even more so for turbo charged cars. Hot air is less dense, therefore you get less oxygen per unit volume of airflow.
I'm not sure, but your ECU may also turn down the boost in such cases to prevent the turbo from overspinning (as it does with higher altitudes).
Dwayne
94 S4
