If anybody upgraded A4 2.8 Q/M/(S)'s suspension setup, I would like to hear what they think about the upgrade. How much would this cost?
I am really disappointed with A4 2.8 sports package suspension and considering an upgrade if the price is reasonable.
I am not looking for lowered "look", but I am actually looking for performance- less body roll, less bouncy feels, stablity under high speed turn and etc. I probably don't need an adjustable coilover setups, as I am not looking into lowering the setup that much, probably less than an inch or about there.
I've read the archive, but most of the talk is about how much they can lower the cars and etc and not much info on the actual performace incerase after the upgrade. One of the article said that he is still disappointed after the upgrade, which kind of hints me that maybe I shouldn't even bother.

Do a search in the registry for :
1) Coilovers
2) Bilsteins
3) Konis
You will find lots of people that have done suspension mods.
I did my H&R coilovers to lower the center of gravity of the car....improve handling for autox and driving school events. The coilovers are height adjustable...so I can decide on exactly how low I want it. Based upon your comment...you may want the Koni shocks...with dampening adjustability....and maybe an Eibach or H&R spring set-up.
Steve S.
H&R coilovers, Neuspeed sway bars, Remus muffler, TAP modified throttle body, K&N panel air filter, Ronal R-28 17X8.5" wheels on Pirelli P7000SS 225/45/17 tires, ATE super blue brake fluid, Brembo Front Brake Rotors....etc...etc...etc...
P.S. For me the stock and sport set-up was too soft for my liking

saw your post on the other board.
One thing to pls consider is insurance. A collegue (sic) of mine just picked up the 323. He chose it over the 328 not only because of initial cost but also (get this) the insurance is cheaper. Since the insurance company does not yet have a profile on the 323 the rate is MUCH less than the 328 on which they have history (even though it is a new model!).
check the rate on the A4.
1996 A4 2.8 qm
I have H&R sport springs and Koni shocks. The springs lower the car 1-1/2" in front and 1-1/4 in back. I think it cost around $11-1200 including labor, and my guy probably wasn't the cheapest, but I don't know how to work on cars myself, and I trust this local, independent Audi specialist.
The difference in handling (vs. non-sport package) is unbelievable. I did a couple of track events before the suspension upgrade, and the body-roll was a little unsettling at times. After the upgrade, the car stays very flat in hard corners, which is very confidence-inspiring. I think it makes a huge difference in my ability to get around a track faster.
It also makes everyday driving a lot more fun. Of course, cornering is much improved. But also, being stiffer, the car transmits a lot more road feel, and is more sensitive to my inputs.
If someone were only going to do one upgrade to their A4, the suspension should be the one, IMO.
Rich D.
