All of the responses are positive for Mobil 1. Yet when I made an appointment for a oil & filter service my dealer said neither they nor Audi recommend synthetic oil and while synthetics would not cause any damage that they use only Castrol 10W40. I put about 5000 miles per year on the car (2.8) and change the oil every 6 months. This is my second service commimg up with 4500 miles on the odometer. I would prefer to start useing Mobil 1 now, but I am somewhat concerned by my dealers comments. Can someone comment? Thanks.

as long as the oil specs are ie. sj ect, you can use whatever you want.<p>I would use Amsoil Series 2000 over Mobil 1 though....with your type of driving<br>you can get AT LEAST a year out of it with NO problems.
