I just called Thule USA with some questions about fitting a rack w/ the 415 factory rack kit. I explaned about some of the issues that have been discussed in this forum in the past (hard to fit near front of rack....)
They claimed that their new solution is to use the Thule 751 system originally designed for Subaru roof racks.
Anyone tried this ?
Thanks
Dave

I have the Yakima for my Avant and it fits perfectly. Very sturdy and does not touch the surface of the car. It is also significantly cheaper that the Thule. I ordered it from www.paddlers.com and there was no tax or shipping and it came overnight.

Another yes vote for Yakima. I have used them with some heavy loads on my Avant. They go on and off very easy and leave no marks.
NeilM
I'd love to be able to fit two kayaks on it!

Just installed Yakima w/ DoubleCross Towers on 98 A4 Avant. Very sturdy, once locked down, you can grab the bars and give them a good shake, no movement at all. Also had good luck w/ Yakima on previous Integra. Left rack on year round. Once stupidly ran into garage w/ bike, but only cross bar bent, only small scrapes on bike, no damage to car.
Mark A
98 Avant Quattro
