Well, the 98.5 Avant hit 7500 miles over Christmas; brought it in for this service and some other things to Sewickley Car Store in Pittsburgh, PA
1) Have a 30V w/ manual tranny. have experienced a reluctance in the engien to drop RPMs between shifts, to the extent I have to delay engaging clutch in next higher gear if I want a smooth shift. I have even started lifting up on the gas slightly BEFORE disengaging the clutch.
Dealer sez this is normal for this engine, and nothing can be done. I think this is consistent with other listers.
2) Wanted the remotes reprogrammed to open all the doors on a singel push. First service person I talked to (someone I didn't know) said "Audi cannot do this; it was a safety feature designed into the car, and we can't change it. It's for your own protection." Another service person who I have dealt with for several years said they'd look into it.
Picked up car, the remotes had been reprogrammed. For info, brought in both remotes and the key number.
3) Apparently Audi uses dinosaur oil for oil changes (i.e., NOT synthetic). Another owner was there with his 1.8T; he had arranged to bring in synthetic oil for the dealer to install at his first service. Looks like if you want synthetic, it's your own nickel.
