If you have a 1998 A4, you can use either of the following changers:
1. OEM Audi changer (Clair Parts has best price)
2. Panasonic DP601 6 Disk Changer - (Clair Parts & Crutchfield have good prices, requires adaptor); and
3. Panasonic DP801 8 Disk Changer (Got mine from the local stereo shop for approx. $200.) This also requires an adaptor -- NOT the same one that the DP601 uses! The only place that I know that makes this adaptor for this changer and A4 is Blitzsafe. Get the phone number from www.blitzsafe.com and ask for Lincoln.
I had the DP601 and it skipped quite often. However, many owners on this board have sworn up and down as to the reliability of the DP601. That was not my experience and perhaps I had a sensitive one. In any event, after replacing it with the DP801 (8 disk changer) I have been in music heaven. It has not skipped once, even on very hard bumps, turns and acceleration -- please note that I have an aftermarket suspension which is much stiffer.
Good luck on your choice. If I were you, I would get the DP801. You can get it for less money than the DP601 in some places and you have 2 more cd's to listen to.
