View Full Version : why does everyone drool over the TTs, am I the only audi owner that doesn't think they are all that? Is it just because they're new, or is it some secret that I just don't know... a4 owner 07-07-1999, 10:04 AM Todd W 07-07-1999, 10:08 AM
I like it, but I don't fit so . . . .
It's neat but not for everyone, typical Audi in that respect.
Todd W Andy Hedin 07-07-1999, 10:28 AM Conker 07-07-1999, 10:30 AM Rich W. 07-07-1999, 10:39 AM The TT has such large "hips" that I can't get used to. It seems so bulky. And the side windows are so small, that it seems claustrophobic. The A4 seems so much "sleeker"...
But opinions are like a__holes... everybody's got one...
Any mine is a gaping one... T2 07-07-1999, 10:44 AM 'That's ugly!... Looks like a Volkswagen'
(I happen to disagree, but I've heard that looks like a Volkswagen Beetle comment several times).
Tom
RSS 07-07-1999, 10:48 AM (nt) Todd W 07-07-1999, 10:56 AM Dank 07-07-1999, 11:02 AM ! phred 07-07-1999, 11:18 AM BDW 07-07-1999, 11:45 AM
I just don't think it would be for me. I don't care for the high beltline, which really makes visibility out the side windows poor in my opinion. Also was unimpressed by the shifter action (though I admit I wasn't actually driving it). The clutch felt good but the shifter felt so rigid and notchy, like it would be hard to really row through the gears. It may be totally different when driving, but I don't see how.
BDW '99 1.8Tqms
Wett 1 bar, K&N Loreon 07-07-1999, 11:47 AM Cameron 07-07-1999, 12:08 PM Al P 07-07-1999, 12:27 PM Tyrone 07-07-1999, 12:34 PM Brad Willis 07-07-1999, 01:06 PM nt
I'm a snob; I admit it. 07-07-1999, 02:01 PM alan t. 07-07-1999, 02:19 PM dfdf alan t. 07-07-1999, 02:24 PM dfd Cathleen 07-07-1999, 04:03 PM People on this board may be more Audi/A4 enthusiast in nature but I see MANY A4 drivers on the roads here and you can tell they are NOT enthusiats A4 let alone, Audi.
For example, for 1 of every 10 A4 sightings, I may have someone look at my A4 in some curiousity. No matter that my car is a different looking A4. I look at Audis regardless. I'm always gawking at Audis of all ages, all BMWs, Porsches, Mercedes so on. I'm a car nut and I am attracted to all cool cars (Cool as my own definition, of course).
Still, the average A4 driver in my area is completely oblivious to his/her surroundings and other A4s. I get more looks from BMW drivers than other A4s. They seem to notice my car is an upgraded/enthusiasts car vs. the average A4 driver I see.
I think a lot of these people bought an A4 because of it's cool styling and such. They appear to be first time Audi buyer. Some of them need to learn how to drive! Saw one just hanging out in the left lane of the expressway with no one in the middle and right lanes. Arrrgh. This person does NOT deserve an A4!!!
Just my take on the "average" local A4 buyer around here. Patrick, Mike and other A4.org nuts in SE Michigan being the exception, of course.
-Cathleen ChuckH 07-07-1999, 06:29 PM The TT is such a masterpiece in design and excecution. The TT has nearly identical dimensions to the 911, but is much more exciting to look at. I think the TT design is very much like an updated Porsche 356, with the high sills and small windows. To me it also has a similar feel inside, although it is much more luxurious. Most of all, it's a head turner and very fun to drive!
Charles
Planning to order Aviator Grey 225hp quattro, TT Roadster before the end of summer.
Gordon Martin 07-07-1999, 08:12 PM Gordon Martin
98.5 2.8QMS (Santorin Blue)
Peter 07-07-1999, 08:21 PM And when something is different enough, there will people that love it and others that hate it. By sticking to a boring design, they'd have encountered less polarity in opinion, but then they'd just have another boring car. They built the TT after such an enthusiastic response to the prototype, and so far that enthusiasm has continued into sales.
In my opinion, the TT is a wonderful design, innovative and yet simple and at the same time aggressive and beautiful. I think this type of design philosophy was present in designing the A4 and the A6 and will continue to be one of Audi's strongpoints.
Peter
A4 1.8TQtip
Scott G 07-07-1999, 08:38 PM CW 07-07-1999, 09:32 PM Shark 07-07-1999, 10:29 PM Yep, I would agree |
