I have a 98.5 2.8QM w/ power driver seat that makes a strange clicking when I'm accelerating. I can feel the seat move a fraction of an inch when this noise is made. Does any one else have this quirk? The seat is fine in all other aspects.

A Compass!?! Why? I think most roadways in N.A are pretty well labeled. It's not like if you are travelling down a expressway and (all of a sudden) you can just take a right turn and head in a different direction.
Stuff like this reminds me of that one episode of The Simpsons, where Homer found his long lost brother who owned a car manufacturer. Homer got to design a car that would "fit" all the Homers in the world... which, included a giant cup holder. Coincidence? I think not! :)
Cris
i find that comment a little insulting.
While a GPS navigation system with integrated map display would be the ultimate, i don't think it is unreasonable to ask for a compass. A lot of the high end domestics have them.
The entire continent is NOT WELL LABELLED. Drive out of the city, and this will become readily apparent. Sure if you are only going to drive on major freeways you'll get signs.
Also in San Jose area, there are freeways that are Labelled West, but head North, and even East for some distance. (trust me i have been there).
Also downtown (urban jungle), not all streets are like in NY labelled East/West North/South. They have just names!! So buried in a metropolis, where u can't see the sun, and u made a couple of wrong turns, which direction are u heading? (moss don't grow on skyscrapers)
In summary, if you are never going to venture beyond your little sphere of the world u will probably be ok.

1996 A4 2.8 qm Toronto
i also happen to work for a GPS firm, and I want the navigation system in MY CAR!!!

it's probably just me, but I find it somewhat irrating to see/read about silly comments like: "for a $30K car, I would EXPECT a bigger (big gulp) cup holder" or "for a $30K car, I would EXPECT ...this and that.", or "My other car has this, and it's $XK less than the A4!" You get where I am going. Wouldn't one think of planning ahead for a trip into the unknown?
IMHO, the Germans know what they are doing when they design/build their cars. They don't try to sell you with the gadgets in the car. Audi is no exception.
Cris
... things like "windshield washer fluid low" or speed warning is less likely to be helpful in everyday life than a compass. So your argument of a gadget-free car doesn't hold - it's more about the usefulness of the gadget.
- Stan

I don't think a compass would have helped me find my friends I was suppose to meet at the Prudential building.
Cris
I don't think that i or the original post were impling that for $30 U should have this option. At least i wasn't. I understand what u are saying.
On the other hand, i don't think it is unreasonable to expect a certain level of gadgets on an upscale vehicle. People got by for decades with out Xenon headlights (faster speeds require better lights notwithstanding). (this could be classified as a gadget)
Re german cars and gadgets:
On BMWs i can get:
reverse/curb indicator
trip computer
navigation system
automatic rain detection system (also on Porsche)

i agree with stanj
1996 a4 2.8 qm
PS
so what classifies as a gadget?
Methinks if it don't make it go faster it is a gadget!!
(heated seats, power seats, trunk light, CD changer, navigation system, cell phone, etc)
SO i like gadgets, and anything that enhances the driving experience without a performance penalty, i am all for!!!
