Would I be crazy to chip a car that will experience some light towing (600 lbs.)? It's a 1.8T Tip. Given this, which chip would be best?

I own a 97 1.8tqm. I first added the Wett chip (yee haw!) more than a year ago, then added a trailer hitch about 4 months later. I use my A4 for periodic hauling of 2 jet skis on a trailer (darn thing is wide) and have experienced no problems. Trips have ranged from 15 to 150 miles and have traveled up to 75 mph quite easily. The car has also been lowered by about 30mm (B&G springs, Bilstein shocks) which makes the ground clearance tight but manageable.
The hitch was installed by UHaul, and parts and labor ran just over $300. And to answer your original question, I don't think you're crazy to chip your car even with the light towing.
Rob 97 1.8tqm (Wett chip, Brullen exhaust, sport suspension)

Issues? hmmm....well, with the low profile of the car, it places the hitch point failry low as well. This in turn places the end of the trailer higher than the hitch point, making the entry/exit of the jet skis, from the trailer, more challenging than if they were attached to a *___* (insert SUV/truck of choice). The lower stance of the car also means I won't take the car as far into the water as I might if I had a Blazer per se.
In any case, my rear bumper gets a bit wet when placing the trailer in the water, but it's not a concern of mine.
btw, I have a 3-person cruiser as well as a WaveBlaster (an upright).
Rob 97 1.8tqm
