Hello all,
What choices do I have for upgrading the Delta sound system in a 97 A42.8q?
Currently I have no CD player or changer...
Can an aftermaket head unit be installed in the stock location? what about speakers?
what sizes are used on the doors, both front and rear, as well as the rear deck?
Are the speakers in the rear doors and rear decklid 2-ways or mids?
Is there some weird crossover setup going to the mini-me like amp in the back?
Can anyone recommend a mail order house for all this stuff, or an audio place
in the SF Bay Area that does decent work and you would trust with your A4
Lots of questions, your help is truly appreaciated...
Herr Hai

Options are only limited by budget. Yes you can install an aftermarket head unit. Almost any will work with an adapter kit. Personally, I like the stock look so I'd keep the stock head unit, buy a CD changer from Clair and add an amp or two and some speakers. The 97 stereo is unfamiliar to me so you may need to look in the archives for more reliable answers but I think that the rear deck speakers are fed a low pass signal only. The rest of the speakers are full range. The front and rears are 4"ers and the rear deck should hold 8"ers. Again, I am not sure. In the end, it all comes down to how much dineros you got. Good luck.
Paul C.
