Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows a place where I can wash my own car. I've decided to do it myself since its summer anyway and there are always these small bits that are not taken care of when someone else washes the car. So anyone know a place where I can do it? I live right in Center City.

There are plenty of do-it-yourself places in Pittsburgh area, where you throw in a quarter for "x" minutes of water. I used them in previous years for a quick wash in winter on daily drivers to get rid of excessive crud. I have found them to be POOR, largely due to:
1) use of recycled water. This is NOT clean fresh water
2) Nozzle switches between water/soap/solvents (degreasers, etec.) are horrible. Seems like if you switch from soap to water, still get some soap in stream forever.
Would recomend these placeds for engine degrtesing or wheel well/underside washing, but not on pexternal painted surfaces. Much better is to look for some of these car washes conducted by high schools, Scouts, civic organizations, etc. on weekends. They use fresh water, standard hand washing/drying methods, etc. Plus, you're doing a good civic deed.
