I ordered a light silver S4 earlier this year. I got a call from the dealer last week regarding order number and B ("be patient") status.<br>He seemed confused with alcantara and said it might be an expensive option (???).<br>

No, it is a no cost option. I also ordered a Silver S4, with leather though.

All the other "Optional Features" are added cost items ie: convenience, cold weather, etc. so why would Alcantara be otherwise? Just a thought but I bet it costs extra.

I like the look of the grey birds eye maple... on a car that expensive I couldn't go with "Boy Racer" interior with cheesy "BMW 323is Sport Package Aluminum" inserts... Audi did the aluminum thing on the A4 1.8 in the mid to late 90s... now BMW is jumpin' on the atmosphere bandwagon... <p>Plus I can see some type of liquid gettin' on the faux suede and stainin' it much easier than the simple calfskin (that I believe is virgin leather that was killed by virgins, tanned by virgins and installed by virgins!... I can dream can't I?)...<p>I figured the wood and full leather would cost more! Supposedly the changer isn't standard on Bose... hopefully the package won't cost as much... yeah right! hahaha

It seems like nobody knows for sure. My dealer called me today stating that they had to put their orders in so they needed to know what exactly I wanted. She seemed to think the Alcantara was a $ option and she guessed $2000 (CDN). I went for it (Nogaro blue/blue alcantara) but I sure hope it doesn't cost $2K!!! She estimates late Sept. delivery with pricing info to come out about 1 month before delivery. Ordering a car with no clue about the final cost really sucks!
