Folks,
As you can imagine, I'm not a very happy camper, these days. My car was towed into the shop at the beginning of November 1998 because of a broken timing belt, and I have yet to get it back. There was damage to valves, heads, etc, which supposedly have been fixed. However, they cannot get the "check engine" light to go off, and have been trying to remedy this for the last couple of weeks. My patience is wearing thin, though. A technician from AoA is supposedly helping, but they can give me no indication as to when the car will be fixed. What can i do. I've begun to look into the Lemon Law of NJ, but don't have any idea what's involved there. AoA has stated that they will do what ever to make things right with me, once I get my car back, so it seems that they, too, realize that this is ridiculous. I just want my car back. Any suggestions??? At what point do I ask for a new car???

Do an internet search to find the applicable lemon law statutes in your state. The criteria for qualifying will be spelled out, and from the sounds of it you shouldn't have any trouble making the grade.
Collect everything you have in writing regarding this situation. Find a lawyer with experience in these matters and negotiate a fee up front. Look in your manual, find out the exact address for notifying AoA that you wish to arbitrate under your state's lemon law, tell your attorney, and go for it.
Kimmel&Silverman are a law firm in Phila.,Pa. All they do is handle lemon law cases. You call them, explain the situation, Fed-Ex them all your documentation, and they go to work. If this fellow's car has been down for two months, they'll get him a new car. He & they may or may not have to even go to court. The owner of the lemon doesn't pay them, the manufacturer of the lemon pays them. Good deal for owner of lemon.
