My A4 1.8T QMS Avant has approximately 4700 miles and just noticed the tell-tale sign of worn out throw-out bearing(gravelly sound that disappears when clutch is depressed). Has this happened to others? This is awfully soon to be replacing bvearings?
Any comments would be appreciated

Sounds like you have experience with worn out throw-out bearings, but I wonder if this could be a sound from the quattro components? Have you had an AWD car before? Whatever the answer is, take it to the dealer and have them look at it.
you are right, I do have some experience with 4 bangers and I don't think its the quattro noise. I'll be bringing it in for its 5000 mile service next week. Keep you posted. Thanks for the reply, Its nice to have this site to discuss this sort of thing with fellow A4-ers
