The 2.8 V6 - A great engine

I've been having this 323i vs 1.8T vs 2.8 debate going on in my mind for a while now. I had never driven the 2.8 and really wondered if it was worth the extra money. I was lucky enough to take out a 1.8T and a 2.8 back to back without some yapping saleman in the back. I drove twisty backroads, and on the highway. Let me just say the 1.8T is great for the money and great for those into mods. But after driving the 2.8, I have to say this engine is so underrated. It's a gem. Punch the throttle at 3000 RPM in 2nd or 3rd gear, and the car responds willingly - that was not the case with the so called "sporty" 1.8T. I was very reluctant to dish out the additional 4 grand, but now I know I'd never consider the 1.8T again as long as this smooth powerful engine exists. As for the 323i....I find that it steers, handles, brakes, and feels superior to the A4, but the 2.8 V6 is keeping the A4 in the running.
