I am hoping to buy a no-options A4 1.8TQM Avant. I have found a Sable Brown Mica - Ecru/Onyx Leatherette Avant with only the winter pkg. I could save 2-3 grand and get it now, or I could order a 2000 model and get it in November.
The thing is, there is no color that I really love. The only other reason to order one is the curtain airbags, otherwise I'm happy with the options on the brown one. I would rather have the in-dash CD and trip computer that seem to be standard on the 2000, but I can live with the changer.
I'm not going to meet many women in a brown wagon, but at least I'd have an excuse :-)
Todd W

I'd say go for it now. Who knows if there will be a price increase for the 2000MY? The price sounds right for the Sable Brown (and you won't see that color around every corner).
Besides, if the Avant owners/purchasers on this board are any indication, there seems to be a longer wait for the Avant than the sedan. If you wait until this Fall to order I could easily see you waiting until next summer to get your Avant.
Good luck - Rog
'99 Silver 2.8QMS

Nice name. I bet women really love you. You know, sometimes the best women are those that have children. These women know what they want and how they want it. You are the child so you have to have a mother!!!

...who wouldn't be interested in you because of the car you drive is not worth having around. Besides, it just so happens that the Avant is pretty sporty for a wagon, and Sable Brown is not all that bad when it's clean. Take the $3K and buy yourself an indash CD, a changer, amps, and speakers. You may even have just enough left (depending on how far you take the stereo) to buy a chip! :-)
Charles
